J-1 Exchange Visitor Programs

Pathways Global sponsors two J-1 designations under the Exchange Visitor Program. Both include structured, supervised professional training with cultural activity components built into each training plan. Find the designation that fits your profile.

For current students and recent graduates seeking structured, hands-on professional experience in their field of study with U.S. cultural exchange components.

Who qualifies:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary institution outside the U.S.; OR
  • Graduated from such a foreign institution no more than 12 months prior to the program start date
  • The training must be directly related to the participant's field of study
  • Sufficient English proficiency to participate and benefit from the program
  • Participants must not displace full-time or part-time U.S. workers
Max Duration: 12 Months Training Plan: DS-7002 Designation: Intern

For working professionals advancing their expertise through structured U.S. training with cultural exchange woven throughout.

Who qualifies:

  • Holds a degree from a foreign post-secondary institution AND at least 1 year of related work experience outside the U.S.; OR
  • 5 or more years of work experience outside the U.S. in the relevant occupational field
  • Training must follow a structured DS-7002 Training Plan in a recognized occupational category
  • Sufficient English proficiency to participate and benefit from the program
  • Participants must not displace full-time or part-time U.S. workers

Cultural Exchange Requirement — All Programs: In accordance with 22 CFR Part 62, all Pathways Global programs include a structured cultural exchange component — pre-arrival orientation, cultural activity components built into each training plan, and post-program reflection. Cultural exchange is a required element of every J-1 program we sponsor.
